Military Wives Need a Home-Based Business

Hi everyone! There was a caller today on the Dr. Laura radio program that reminded me of myself years ago! As many of you know, I was “married” to the military for 15 years. The caller was about to marry a serviceman but didn’t know how she would survive all the separations and deployments. They didn’t have any children yet and that made it even harder to connect with the other wives who had families. I can relate, and wish someone had given me the following advice far earlier in my “career” of being a Navy Wife. This is a letter I just emailed to Dr. Laura. If you know any military wives out there, be sure they know the benefits of being in a direct selling company, it can certainly change their outlook!

Dear Dr. Laura -

I was listening today when the young lady who was about to get married to a soldier called wondering how she would get through his deployments and other military absences. As a former military spouse, I can relate. It IS hard when you are worried about your mate and lonely but it is so important that they know you are happy back home.

You gave the caller some great advice for keeping busy so she wouldn’t miss her warrior so much and could begin to build a life full of hobbies and activities. I just wanted to suggest that beginning a home-based business such as with a direct sales company is ideal for military wives.

When I started mine it literally saved my sanity as it gave me something productive to focus on and brought in some extra income, I went out and did home parties or sales events and met new friends I had something in common with, and I received training for the business that actually helped me develop as a person, wife and mother - things like speaking with confidence, time management, goal setting, service to others, and organization. What’s also great about joining a direct sales company is that the business can move with you when you are transferred. I have operated mine in 3 states and it was always a fun way to meet people in my new community when I moved.

If any of your listeners would like to look into this, there is a great support organization called the Direct Selling Women’s Alliance that will help them be successful without having to reinvent the wheel. Their website is www.dswa.org

Being a military wife is not easy, but you were right to suggest that keeping busy is the best way to get through the many separations and just the crazy hours even when they are stateside! Why not earn some money on the side! It worked for me! Thanks for all you do,
Karen Clark

Until next time...

I totally agree! Being a “military brat” myself I have experienced it first hand! If you want to pass those lonely nights, get yourself something to do!

    4. Start a home business selling your services. Anything that is being done on the Internet can be done by you for pay. Virtual assistants are becoming in demand, website design is still very popular, setting up blogs for people is a hot business right now, writing website and blog content continues to be a great way to make money on the Internet, and so on we go. Earn money providing a service!

A home based business opportunity must be in such a way that, the earner should get all the major benefits from his/her business. As opposed to part time jobs from home, one who takes part in a serious project will be able to pay all their pay outs and have money left over to spend on other items as well.
