I gave the faces to my grandson. Now his little brother is playing with them (high quality) and this year he used it to “make his own pumpkin all by himself”! He was THRILLED! (And so were mom and dad since they didn’t have any of the mess of cleaning out the pumpkins!)

I love the Can Do Felt Activity Book. I bought it for my daughter about 12 years ago! She loved it, as well as my next child who played with it for many years. It’s a nice quiet activity that can entertain children during times of waiting. Did I mention that the pictures are adorable?

I’m a facebook fan!

My favorites are-
The math manipulatives, because being able to see and touch and count make learning much easier for visual thinkers. Starting with simple numbers and counting, to grouping and sets which leads into multiplying and dividing, the manipulatives are a fun way to work with numbers.

And the ‘paper’ dolls! Real paper dolls get torn up, the tabs rip off and the clothes slip off or shift around. Even the sturdy wooden magnetic type got broken in my house, making a cute princess into a jagged, splinter covered danger zone! The felt dolls won’t rip, they don’t need tabs and the clothes won’t slide off and they are soft, lightweight and quiet so they’d be great for the diaper bag, in the car, or even in church!

I rediscovered my love for the Create-a-face today when I had the idea to put the pieces on pumpkins for Halloween… how fun! I originally fell in love with them because my nephew had a really hard time expressing his feelings when he was going through some big stuff, and playing with the faces and creating different emotions provided some talking opportunities that were priceless in helping him.

I also just became a fan of fun felt for kids on facebook.

I love the Tropical Rain Forest Felt Board set because it is so colorful and lends itself to rich story-telling. The beauty of the native plant life is incredible, and I like being able to share the pictures to look at, the felt plant shapes to touch, and even talk about wild foods that come from the rain forest…and then we sample raw chocolate/berry treats we make! The felt allows children to use more of their senses in learning, which really helps in building literacy.
