The last week has been an incredible time of my life that I will never forget.
Due to my expressing my appreciation for a positive ripple that she started, national radio talk show host, Dr. Laura Schlessinger, endorsed me and Story Time Felts live on her show. I have done more business in the last week than I usually do in a month, thanks to her! Someone pinch me!
My heart has been on the verge of bursting all week. I cannot believe my good fortune. I was moved to express my appreciation to the mentors I feel have helped lead to my success this past year, Cricket Walker and her SEO Classes (thanks to her, my website was ready for all this business!), and my friends at the Direct Selling Women’s Alliance (due to their mentoring, my mind, calendar, and spirit were open!). I was told also told this week that this is all happening because of *me* and isn’t just a stroke of luck. Could it be? I am thankful, either way.
As the incredibly warm, caring, and genuine people continued to call me, email me and order from me due to hearing about me on Dr. Laura’s show, I was struck by just how much my husband, children and family and friends have done to support me and my journey in this business. I was reflecting on how this all started because of a “thank-you” note I emailed Dr. Laura, and how expressing appreciation is, well, appreciated, in this world!
I went to check my mail and there was a package that felt like a book. I hadn’t remembered ordering anything recently but I knew someone had been sending one of the kids some books for Christmas… The return address was smeared and I just felt compelled to open it instead of adding it to the pile of books for my daughter that have been coming in. I still cannot believe what was in that package.
A book, by Mike Robbins, called Focus on the Good Stuff, The Power of Appreciation.
I couldn’t believe it, after the week I’d been having, so full of joy and hope for the future, and so thankful for all the good that has been coming my way lately, that THIS is what appeared in my mailbox at the very moment I was thinking about it all. I had ordered it weeks ago from the DSWA Bookstore and forgotten about it. What fabulous timing they have!
I read through the forward and introduction and was hooked. In the car after picking up the kids we talked about appreciation and how it can truly transform attitudes and outlooks on life, both for the person expressing it and the person receiving it. The older kids and I decided to start expressing appreciation more in our lives, kind of as an experiment to see what positive changes would come. I am looking forward to finishing the book and seeing what happens with the kids’ experiment. Feeling appreciation is easier than expressing it, and I am afraid I haven’t set a very good example on a regular basis so it will be a meaningful experience for all of us.
Heartfelt appreciation goes out tonight especially for Dr. Laura, for her welcome support on this journey that has suddenly accelerated forward, thanks to her, and to the many new customers, potential teammates, and friends I’ve met this week as a result!
Until next time...
